Sauvignon Blanc in the Summer

By now most of my subscribers already know that I’m more of a red wine drinker… but that’s slowly changing as I start to gain a broader appreciation of wine. If I can recall correctly it all started with a simple Neethlingshof Gewürztraminer and progressed to a Jordan Chenin Blanc.

But what of Sauvignon Blanc you might ask? Well, it’s summer time in South Africa and what better way to refresh oneself than with a crisp glass of Sauvignon Blanc? If anyone finds reason to disagree please enlighten me and comment below :)

As I’ve mentioned before I tend to opt for white wines that are a bit pricy. Forgive me for not being a fan of the infamous Crackling J But, for the friends and family of My Wine Cellar only, I have selected a few of my favourite reasonably priced summer Sauvignon Blanc’s and listed them below.

Diemersdal Single Vineyard 2007 – 84 ZAR

Kleine Zalze Family Reserve 2007/2008 – 100 ZAR

Tokara Elgin 2007 – 75 ZAR

Kumkani Lanner Hill 2007 – 95 ZAR

Groote Post Sauvignon Blanc 2007 – 64 ZAR

You will find most of the wines listed above in My Online Wine Store…

Enjoy… and let me know what you think!

Cheers!

Brandon Marc
