Tastes Like Home!
The first locally produced single-grain Whisky has been produced in South Africa. Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky, made exclusively from local grain, was produced by master distiller Andy Watts at the James Sedgwick Distillery in Wellington.
According to Watts, the Whisky offers ‘toffee, vanilla and floral aromas, with spicy flavours softened by sweet undertones’. Bain’s was subjected to double maturation in oak casks handpicked from the US, resulting in its smooth texture and lingering finish. Apparently, the flavour profile of Bain’s will be attractive to those people who enjoy brands such as Jameson’s and Jack Daniels. I’ve always enjoyed Jameson’s on the rocks, so sounds like I should give it a try!
Bain’s Cape Mountain Whisky is now available for approximately 153ZAR… so next time you’re at the liquor store pick up a bottle and support local produce!
Cheers!
