Wine: A Complex Concoction
Ever wondered what it is that’s swimming around in your wine glass? Quite a lot actually. There are believed to be almost 1000 ‘ingredients’ identified in wine, and more yet to be discovered.
Wine is 85% water with a varying alcohol content that averages 12%. Many different acids are present, tartaric and malic being the most common. Also present in wine are various sugars, carbohydrates, other alcohols, aromatic aldehydes, ketones, phenolics, enzymes, pigments, vitamins and minerals. The list goes on and on…
Its hard to believe that all those chemicals can be packed into one glass of wine! And for those of you who are counting calories, you would be interested to know that in one glass of a regular dry wine there are approximately 150 calories… that’s about the same as in a pint of beer!
Cheers!

Welcome to My Wine Cellar Geozel!
Not many people realise that there are calories in wine… but when wine tastes that good, I somehow forget about the calories

I have one word for you Mike: Moderation
I think if you’re drinking ‘2 glasses a day’, no more no less, combined with regular exercise then there’s no problem at all.
This has been outlined in a previous post: http://www.brandonmarc.com/wine-healthy-habit-or-deadly-dose)
